(LĀHAINĀ, HAWAI‘I) – Prior to the August 8 fire, the Lāhainā Small Boat Harbor was a busy port for private vessels, commercial tour operators, and the interisland ferry service.  Waterway access to the harbor is currently restricted by the U.S. Coast Guard (USCG), in coordination with the County of Maui, until a full assessment of damage is completed. This will be followed by the removal of potentially dozens of boats, many of which remain safety and navigational hazards as they rest below the ocean surface.

(HONOLULU) - The DLNR Division of Boating and Ocean Recreation (DOBOR) is requesting interest in managing the parking lot operations at the Ala Wai Small Boat Harbor. To be considered, interested parties must submit a qualifications questionnaire to DOBOR by September 15, 2023.

HONOLULU - The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), Honolulu District, in partnership with the Hawai‘i Department of Land and Natural Resources’ Division of Boating and Ocean Recreation, is announcing the release of a second Draft Integrated Feasibility Report and Environmental Assessment (IFR/EA), which identifies a proposed plan for beneficial use of dredged material along the Hale‘iwa Beach Park shoreline, in Hale‘iwa, Island of O‘ahu, Hawai‘i (Figure 1).

(KAHULUI, MAUI) –  Underwater search efforts for human remains that began last Saturday, continued today in near-shore waters near the Lāhainā Small Boat Harbor and along the Front Street breakwater. 

(MĀʻALAEA SMALL BOAT HARBOR, MAUI) – Today, the Maui-Lānaʻi Passenger Ferry, operated by Expeditions, resumed interisland service.  The DLNR Division of Boating and Ocean Recreation (DOBOR) worked expeditiously to clear the ferry dock of fire ash and debris at the Māʻalaea Small Boat Harbor to accommodate the ferry.

(Kailua-Kona) – Construction is set to begin on July 31 on the wash down drainage area at the Honokohau Small Boat Harbor. This project involves removing, hauling, and disposing of drain rock, silt, debris, etc. from the existing clogged and overflowing boat wash down area of the trench drain.

HONOLULU – All 14 Hawaiʻi Island State Parks and campsites will close at 4 p.m. today and will remain closed tomorrow in anticipation of Tropical Storm Calvin. All DLNR Division of State Parks (DSP) offices will also be closed tomorrow. Parks will reopen following assessments of any damage.

(Kawaihae) – Additional renovations at the North Kawaihae Small Boat Harbor (SBH) will begin on March 22nd. During this phase (which includes demolition, grading and paving for the boat ramp and parking lot) of the project, both the boat ramp and parking lot will be closed for approximately 60 days. The boat ramp will remain open for non-trailered vessels such as canoes and kayaks that can be walked to the boat ramp, but it will be closed for trailered vessels.

(Honolulu) - Construction is set to begin on March 7th on a water system improvement project at the Ala Wai Small Boat Harbor. This project involves instillation of high-density polyethylene (HDPE) water mains and service laterals. They will also conduct trenching and asphalt pavement repair work.

(HONOLULU) – Today, the State Board of Land and Natural Resources approved a request from the DLNR Division of Aquatic Resources (DAR) to hold a public hearing to incorporate fishery rules for the Miloliʻi Community-Based Subsistence Fishing Area (CBSFA) on Hawai‘i Island.
