(Kekaha, Kaua’i) – The DLNR Division of Boating and Ocean Recreation (DOBOR) announce that repairs to the Kīkīaola Small Boat Harbor Launch Ramp have been completed ahead of schedule, and the ramp will reopen on Monday, July 19, 2021.

(HONOLULU) – State lawmakers and DLNR leaders believe the 2021 legislative session was the most productive and effective for natural and cultural resources protection and support of any in recent decades. 

(Honolulu) – Recent approved amendments to Hawai’i Administrative Rules (HAR) Chapter 13-241 by Governor David Ige will result in an implementation for new vessel titles by the DLNR Division of Boating and Ocean Recreation (DOBOR).

(HONOLULU) - A project to replace the aging and deteriorating water main at the Ala Wai Small Boat Harbor begins with utility probing this week. Pacific Isles Equipment Rental (PIER) Inc., will be working on the main until July 9 and will start the process by probing for all existing underground utilities that may be affected by the project. 

(KEKAHA, KAUA‘I) The Kīkīaola Small Boat Harbor ramp will be closed from Monday, June 21,  to Sunday, August 15, for the installation of new boat ramp panels on the above-water portion and concrete pavement at the top of the ramp.

 (Hāna) – Improvements to the Hāna Boat Ramp and wharf will result in construction and closures that may impact boaters beginning the last week of June. The boat ramp will be closed for approximately 8 days starting around July 12 (date is subject to change) while new precast panels will be installed at the top of the boat ramp.

(Līhuʻe) – Personnel from three DLNR divisions participated in a challenging operation yesterday, to remove an unattended, illegally moored, 29-foot sailboat from the South Shore Ocean Recreation Management Area (ORMA) on Kaua‘i. 

(Kekaha)- Construction is set to begin tomorrow at the Kikiaola Small Boat Harbor on various site improvements. These improvements include installation of a new water main, installation of a new prefabricated comfort station with an individual wastewater system, resurface asphalt pavement, new concrete pavement at boat ramp approach, new boat ramp concrete panels, relocation of the boat wash down area and drainage upgrades.  

(Honolulu) – Recent heavy rain events have caused major flooding to many parts of the state and with that, debris is churned up and scattered. Staff from the DLNR Division of Aquatics Resources (DAR) are currently cleaning up Lake Wilson which has had tons of rubbish in its waters due to these rain events. If Lake Wilson is not cleaned up, it could impact fishing opportunities in the Lake, and the rubbish could end up in Kaiaka Bay and eventually the ocean.

(Lāhainā) – Construction is set to begin April 5th on a new concrete ferry pier at the DLNR Division of Boating and Ocean Recreation’s (DOBOR) Lāhainā Small Boat Harbor. The new concrete ferry pier (20’ wide x 115’ long) will be located 70’ out from the north face of the existing harbor pier. Other improvements include a new aluminum framed gangway (15’ wide x 70’ long) connecting the ferry pier to the existing pier; demolition of the existing harbor office and construction of a new harbor administration office. New concrete pavement on the pier deck and along Wharf Street; as well as new bollards and striping will also be part of the project.
