(LĪHU‘E) –The state Commission on Water Resource Management (CWRM) will host a community hearing next Tuesday, May 21, focused on the Kauaʻi Water Use and Development Plan (KWUDP) update. The purpose of the hearing is to gather public comment and those interested are encouraged to attend in-person or online.

HONOLULU — Keiki of all ages are invited to find their own adventure as they explore the iconic Diamond Head State Monument, on Kids to Parks Day, Saturday May 18, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

(HILO, HAWAIʻI) – Starting on Wednesday, Akaka Falls State Park on Hawaiʻi Island will temporarily close on weekdays to undergo rockfall mitigation work. The DLNR Division of State Parks has contracted Prometheus Construction for the project, which is expected to run through the end of the month.

HONOLULU –The Department of Land and Natural Resources is pleased to announce that Doni Leināʻala Hanuna Pahukoa Chong has been selected as the new Curator of the Royal Mausoleum State Monument at Mauna ‘Ala on O‘ahu. Ms. Chong becomes the 18th curator of the Royal Mausoleum.

(HONOLULU) – A portion of the Moanalua Section of the Honolulu Watershed Forest Reserve known as “Middle Ridge” will be closed for 90 days, or longer if necessary, during construction work to remove the Ha‘ikū Stairs.

(KAHULUI, MAUI) – With a large presence of workers from the DLNR Division of Boating and Ocean Recreation (DOBOR), and under the watchful eye of officers with the DLNR Division of Conservation and Resources Enforcement (DOCARE), today the public parking areas at the state’s Kahului Boat Harbor are relatively clean of camps, and more than five dozen vehicles, many of them abandoned.

(WAILUKU, MAUI) – Maui Mayor Richard T. Bissen, Jr. signed a proclamation to recognize 2024 as Ka Makahiki o Nā Manu Nahele, Year of The Forest Birds, on Wednesday. This action follows Governor Josh Green, M.D.’s proclamation in January and county proclamations on Hawaiʻi Island on Feb. 1, and on Kaua‘i on March 11.
