- 01/20/23 – HAWAI‘I SET TO SEE 42 NEW CONSERVATION RESOURCE OFFICERS(Peacock Flats Road, O‘ahu) – The ranks of the DLNR Division of Conservation and Resources Enforcement (DOCARE) will expand by 50% in mid-March, when 42 recruits will be commissioned as Hawai‘i Conservation Resources Enforcement Officers (CREOs).
- 01/17/23 – FORESTRY AND AGRICULTURE CONNECTION SERVES AS A BLUEPRINT FOR HAWAI‘I LAND STEWARDSHIP(HONOLULU) – The cooperative relationship between forestry and agriculture is rooted in Hawaiian history and continues to serve as a blueprint for constructive land stewardship in the state.
- 01/13/23 – GRANT PROJECTS TO BRING MORE TREES, CREATE HEALTHIER LEARNING ENVIRONMENTS AT HAWAI’I PUBLIC SCHOOLS(HONOLULU) – Three nonprofit organizations have been selected to receive funding for tree planting projects at Hawai‘i public school campuses through the U.S. Forest Service’s 2022 Bipartisan Infrastructure Law Grant. Each project will advance the Hawaiʻi Forest Action Plan priorities in Urban and Community Forestry while the trees planted will contribute toward the State’s pledge to conserve, restore, or grow 100 million trees by 2030.

- 12/17/22 – MĀNA ROAD WILDFIRE TOUR PROVIDES TEACHING & LEARNING MOMENTS FOR FIRE MANAGERS(WAIKOLOA, HAWAI‘I) – Fire managers from around the country got an up-close, post-fire tour of the Māna Road fire area on Thursday. They gathered on Hawai‘i Island this week for a state fire chiefs conference, along with meetings of the Western Fire Leadership Council and the Hawai‘i Wildfire Management Organization (HWMO).
- 12/1/22 – CALL TO ARTISTS FOR HAWAI‘I WILDLIFE CONSERVATION STAMP CONTEST(HONOLULU) – The DLNR Division of Forestry and Wildlife (DOFAW) is issuing a call to artists for submittals to the annual art contest for the 2023-24 Hawai’i Wildlife Conservation and Game Bird Stamp.
- 12/1/22 – ADDITIONAL MAUNA LOA ERUPTION CLOSURES ANNOUNCED(HILO) – Effective immediately, due to continuing volcanic activity on Mauna Loa, the DLNR Division of Forestry and Wildlife (DOFAW) has closed all hunting in the portion of Unit A of the Mauna Kea Forest Reserve and Game Management Area South of Daniel K. Inouye Highway across from the Gil Kahele Recreation Area.
- 11/29/22 – ADDITIONAL CLOSURES IN HAWAI‘I ISLAND FOREST RESERVES(HILO) – As lava continues to flow into the Northeast Rift zone from Mauna Loa’s summit caldera, the DLNR Division of Forestry and Wildlife (DOFAW) is closing additional recreation areas on the mountain.
- 11/18/22 – LARGEST COLLECTION OF ʻŌHIʻA LEHUA IN HAWAI‘I LIVES ON IN WAIMEA(Waimea) – Established 23-years-ago, Waimea Nature Park is the go-to place for family fun. Operated and maintained by the Waimea Branch of The Outdoor Circle the park was a tangled mess of invasive trees with the ground covered in Christmas berry.
- 11/18/22 – SOUTH KAWAIHAE SMALL BOAT HARBOR IMPROVEMENT PROJECT(HONOLULU) The South Kawaihae Small Boat Harbor (SBH) on Hawaiʻi Island will be undergoing renovations beginning November 21. Site Engineering, Inc. has been contracted by the DLNR Division of Boating and Ocean (DOBOR) for the project.
