- 11/21/17 – Two Years of Consistent Enforcement at Kalalau Pays Major Dividends(HONOLULU) – Each time a team of officers from the DLNR Division of Conservation and Resources Enforcement (DOCARE) flies into the Kalalau section of the Na Pali Coast State Wilderness Park, they find fewer illegal camps and write fewer arrest citations to people in the area without required permits. As Hawai‘i’s largest and most remote state park, it is in the best shape in decades, due to the concentrated efforts of DOCARE and the DLNR Division of State Parks, which manages it.
- 11/17/17 – ‘Iao Valley State Monument Will Reopen November 22 — Slope Stabilization Work is Completed Ahead of ScheduleWAILUKU, MAUI – ‘Iao Valley State Monument will reopen on Wednesday, November 22 following completion of a second phase of slope stabilization to the stream areas in the park that were damaged by a massive flood event in September 2016. The park was originally expected to reopen by December 16, 2017.
- 11/17/17 – DLNR Division of Forestry and Wildlife Invites Community Input for Tantalus-Round Top Drive Corridor Management Plan via New WebsiteHONOLULU – A planning effort to preserve the scenic, historic, and natural features of the Tantalus-Round Top Drive area is now being developed by the Department of Land and Natural Resources (DLNR), Division of Forestry and Wildlife (DOFAW), in partnership with local planning firm Planning Solutions, Inc. (PSI).
- 11/15/17 – Help Protect Hawai‘i’s Seabirds — Turn Off Unneeded Night Lights and Look Out for Downed SeabirdsHONOLULU -- It’s Fall in Hawai‘i, and once again time to watch out for the “fallout” of young seabirds on our islands. At this time of year, native Hawaiian seabirds become disoriented by artificial lights during their maiden flights from their burrows out to sea.
- 11/09/17 – Nualolo Cliff Hiking Trail Reopens on Kaua‘iLIHU‘E -- The DLNR Division of Forestry and Wildlife(DOFAW) will reopen the 2.1-mile-long Nualolo Cliff hiking trail on Kaua‘i on Saturday, November 11, 2017, following completion of work by state trail crews to reroute portions of the trail that were washed out and eroded.
- 11/08/17 – Akaka Falls State Park Trail ReopensHILO, HAWAII -- The Department of Land and Natural Resources (DLNR) Division of State Parks has completed repair work to the 0.4-mile loop trail at Akaka Falls State Park necessitated due to accidental damage caused by earlier removal of invasive albizia trees in February this year.
- 11/08/17 – Update On Closure Schedule For Diamond Head State Monument Rockfall Mitigation Work — November Into DecemberHONOLULU -- The DLNR Division of State Parks announces updated full closure days and half-day closure dates for a continuing project to remove rockfall hazards along the Diamond Head State Monument summit trail. Anyone planning to hike the summit trail between late November and into mid-December, needs to carefully review the construction schedule that now includes some all-day weekday closures. - 09/01/17 – DLNR to Conduct Ungulate Control Program At Pu’u Wa’awa’aHILO -- The Department of Land and Natural Resources (DLNR) Division of Forestry and Wildlife will conduct an ungulate control program at Puu Waawaa Mauka (above Mamalahoa Highway), during three consecutive weekends in September: Labor Day weekend Sept. 2-4, Sept. 9 and 10, and Sept. 16 and 17. During these dates hiking will not be permitted.
- 09/01/17 – Notice of Animal Control Activities and Temporary Closure of Mauna Kea FR, Mauna Kea Ice Age NAR, Palila Mitigation Lands, and Kaohe GMAHILO -- The Department of Land and Natural Resources (DLNR) Division of Forestry and Wildlife (DOFAW) this month will conduct animal control activities specifically for trapping mouflon/feral sheep hybrids; staff hunting, and/or aerial shooting from helicopters for feral goats, feral sheep, mouflon and mouflon/feral sheep hybrids within palila critical habitat in the Mauna Kea Forest Reserve (Unit A), Mauna Kea Ice Age Natural Area Reserve (Unit K), Palila Mitigation Lands, and the Kaohe Game Management Area (Unit G) on the island of Hawai‘i.
