(HONOLULU) – Today, the Board of Land and Natural Resources fined Twogood Kayaks Hawai‘i, Inc., for conducting unpermitted commercial activity on at least five separate occasions, in ocean waters off Kailua.

(HONOLULU) – Following an earlier public hearing, and verbal and written testimony submitted by dozens of people, the State Board of Land and Natural Resources voted today to implement amended rules limiting and regulating commercial activity in ocean waters at Kahalu‘u Bay on the Kona coast of Hawai‘i Island.
(Kawaihae) – Renovations at the North Kawaihae Small Boat Harbor (SBH) will begin on October 18. Site Engineering, Inc. has been contracted by the DLNR Division of Boating and Ocean (DOBOR) to upgrade the harbor’s infrastructure.

(Kailua-Kona) - The DLNR Division of Boating and Ocean Recreation (DOBOR) will hold an online public hearing via Zoom on September 8, 2021, at 10:00 a.m. for proposed amendments of Hawai’i Administrative Rules (HAR) relating to surfing school regulations for Kahalu’u Bay ocean waters.
(Kāne'ohe Bay, O‘ahu) – With a radio call…fire in the hole…repeated three times, U.S. Navy explosive experts detonated a military munition late this morning. The blast briefly sent a column of water an estimated 40-feet into the air. The munition was believed to be 50-years-old or older and was resting in sand, in 13-feet of water, in the Sampan channel.
(Honolulu) – The He’eia Kea Small Boat Harbor will be undergoing the installation of a new absorption bed system for a future wastewater treatment plant effluent disposal system beginning on September 7th.
(HONOLULU) – Mariners are being cautioned to avoid the Sampan Channel area of Kāne'ohe Bay tomorrow during a U.S. Navy treatment operation to remove two unexploded munitions believed to be 50 or more years-old. They’re resting in approximately 13-feet of water.
(KAILUA-KONA) — The Honokōhau Small Boat Harbor office will be closing immediately due to an employee testing positive for COVID-19. In an abundance of caution, the DLNR Division of Boating and Ocean Recreation (DOBOR) is having the office sanitized during its closure. The office will reopen on Monday, August 2.
(KAILUA-KONA) Temporary closure of the Kailua Pier begins on Wednesday, July 28, daily from 10:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m. During the closure, entering the pier will be prohibited. People violating the closure can be cited, fined, or arrested.
