(LĀHAINĀ, HAWAI‘I) – Today, aboard the Kai ‘Aiki, a boat operated by the DLNR Division of Conservation and Resources Enforcement (DOCARE), a trio from the FBI’s Underwater Search and Evidence Response Team (USERT) began probing waters off-shore from Lāhainā. 

(KAHULUI, MAUI) –  Underwater search efforts for human remains that began last Saturday, continued today in near-shore waters near the Lāhainā Small Boat Harbor and along the Front Street breakwater. 

(HONOLULU) – Granted, they had assistance from the drivers of 10 vehicles, who moved thousands of rare, threatened, and endangered Hawaiian snails from their home in Kailua to new digs in the Pearl City area, this morning. Their caretakers have dubbed the transfer, “The Great Snail Bail,” and believe it could well be a record for the number of protected species moved from one place to another at one time.

(HONOLULU) – Citizens continue to step up to report potential resource violations to the DLNR Division of Conservation and Resources Enforcement (DOCARE).

(HONOLULU) – Ropes and monk seal caution signs are being removed from Kaimana Beach, after a Hawaiian monk seal pup has been moved, after weaning over the weekend.

(HONOLULU) –  Eighteen people were cited Saturday night for being in a closed area, in violation of Ka‘ena Point State Park closure hours. Five others were cited for not having special access permits.

(KAILUA-KONA, HAWAI‘I ISLAND) – The Founders Regatta hosted by the Keauhou Canoe Club was placed on temporary hold today, after the discovery of course markers on the coral reef which may have caused significant damage.

(KAHULUI, MAUI) – Executing a search warrant, officers from the DLNR Division of Conservation and Resources Enforcement (DOCARE), and NOAA’s Office of Law Enforcement (OLE), confiscated dozens of items from the Antique Freak shop in Wailuku, on Tuesday. 

(HONOLULU) – PO5, or the recently named Hawaiian monk seal pup, Pualani, will be relocated from Kaimana Beach in Waikīkī after she is weaned, according to NOAA. The offspring of mother seal Kaʻiwi was born in mid-April. 

(Honolulu) – The DLNR Division of Conservation and Resources Enforcement (DOCARE) is beginning recruitment for entry-level Conservation and Resources Enforcement Officer (CREO I) positions to fill vacancies across the state.
