HONOLULU — The Department of Land and Natural Resources (DLNR) announces that eight Oʻahu state parks will resume fall-winter park hours the day after Labor Day, Tuesday, Sept. 2, 2013. Parks will be open from 7 a.m. to 6:45 p.m. daily, and signage reflecting the change will be posted.

HONOLULU – Following assessments in the wake of Tropical Storm Iselle, the Department of Land and Natural Resources (DLNR) has reopened the remainder of its state-managed forest lands and state parks on all islands – with a few exceptions pending removal and clearing of downed trees.

HAPUNA BEACH, WEST HAWAII — The Department of Land and Natural Resources (DLNR) Division of State Parks will hold a community information meeting on its planned improvements at Hapuna Beach State Recreation Area. It represents a creative and collaborative project to enhance the visitor experience at one of Hawaii's most iconic geological features and landmark destinations. Diamond Head or Le'ahi is among the most recognizable and cherished landmarks representing Hawaii to the world. IN 2013, visitors to the park frequently exceeded 3,000 people a day, making it one of the most heavily visited destinations in the state.

LIHU‘E — The Department of Land and Natural Resources (DLNR) will open this year’s season for plum harvesting at Koke‘e State Park, Kaua‘i on Friday, July 4. “This year the plum crop is poor and small,” said Dan Quinn, State Parks administrator. Permits to harvest will be available starting at 7 a.m. on July 4 at the Koke‘e State Park headquarters. There is no cost but forms must be completed and dropped in the box after harvesting.
