(HONOLULU) - Due to hazardous conditions and impassable roads and trails caused by this week’s heavy rains and strong winds, the DLNR Division of Forestry and Wildlife (DOFAW) has closed the Waihou Spring Forest Reserve on Maui.

(HONOLULU) – Ahead of reports of a historic South Pacific swell bringing high surf and rough ocean conditions over the weekend, several State beach parks along south-facing shores will be closed.

(HONOLULU) – One of Hawaiʻi’s most popular trails will be reopening soon, just in time for National Trails Day. The DLNR Nā Ala Hele Trail and Access Program, part of the Division of Forestry and Wildlife (DOFAW) will reopen the Mānoa Falls Trail on June 5, 2021. The popular trail was originally closed in July 2019 for the installation of a rockfall hazard mitigation fence next to the falls. With the trail closed for the fence installation, Nā Ala Hele also installed some long overdue trail safety improvements.

(Honolulu) – The Poamoho Trail has been closed due to a large landslide event. The trail will remain closed and access permits will remain suspended until a hazard mitigation team has assessed the damage and potential hazards on-trail.

(Honolulu)- Effective now, all DLNR Division of Boating and Ocean Recreation (DOBOR) restrooms statewide at State small boat harbors and boat ramps will be reopening, to observe  CDC guidance for ensuring availability of toilets and hand washing facilities for people experiencing homelessness during this COVID-19 emergency. All DOBOR restroom facilities will be open continuously seven days a week until further notice.
