HONOLULU -- New fishing rules for the first-ever Community-Based Subsistence Fishing Area (CBSFA) in Ha‘ena, Kaua‘i, which Governor David Ige signed into law last week, take effect today. The rules are aimed to preserve and protect fishing practices that are customarily and traditionally exercised for purposes of native Hawaiian subsistence, culture, and religion.

Read More 08/07/15 – Public Meetings Planned To Update Hawai‘i State Wildlife Action Plan
(LIHUE, KAUAI) – The Kalalau Trail in the Na Pali Coast State Wilderness Park is likely the most heavily used hiking trail in Hawaii. An estimated 500,000 visitors and residents use the spectacular trail each year. Sandwiched between the ocean and the towering cliffs of the Na Pali Coast, the trail is widely featured in guide books, on travel websites and in blogs.
The Kalalau Trail to Hanakapiai Stream in the Na Pali Coast State Wilderness Park on Kauai is now closed due to a flash flood watch and the potential of heavy rains. During recent storms dozens of people have had to be rescued after being stranded on the wrong side of the stream during flash flood events. The DLNR Division of State Parks advises all users to stay off the trail until the storm has passed.
(HONOLULU) - Governor David Ige has signed into law, the first ever Community-Based Subsistence Fishing Area (CBSFA) for Haena, Kauai. It was filed today. The result of years of discussions and collaboration between the Haena community and various stakeholders, this historic rules package gives the Haena hui an opportunity to protect its ocean resources, based on traditional fisheries management practices.
(WAILUKU) - During mid to late August, 2015 the Wailuku Water Company, LLC (WWC) will undertake repairs to the Waihee Ditch siphon where it crosses ʻĪao Stream. According to the work plan, the stream needs to be nearly dry to repair the siphon and provide a safe working environment.
HONOLULU -- The Department of Land and Natural Resources Division of State Parks will close portions of Wahiawa Freshwater State Recreation Area on weekdays for hazardous tree removal over the next two weeks, starting on Monday, August 3, 2015 and finishing by Friday, August 14, or sooner if possible.
