Department of Land and Natural Resources (DLNR) firefighters today had the fire 100% percent contained at approximately 1 acre. Mop up work will continue this weekend.

"Successful resource management requires participation from the public and we want them to know exactly what is being proposed and how they can get involved in the rule making process," explained Frazer McGilvray, Administrator of the Division of Aquatic Resources.

Special access will be granted to one hunter group per Saturday beginning Nov. 16, 2013, and running through the end of March 2014. Hunters will be selected through a random lottery drawing to be held on Thursday, Oct. 24, 2013, at the East Hawai‘i DOFAW office at 19 E. Kawili St., in Hilo.

A brown water advisory has being issued for the east-north east areas of the island of Kauai, including Hā'ena and Kē'ē Beach. As a health precaution, the public is advised to stay out of flood waters and storm water. If coastal waters are turbid and brown, stay out.
