 (Honolulu) – Effective immediately Wiki Permits, the online permitting system for limited commercial activities on State beaches, such as weddings and vow renewals, is resuming service subject to the following COVID-19 “Act With Care” restrictions: No group shall exceed 10 persons.

(Honolulu) – The Wiki Permits online system is the permitting service for authorized applicants to reserve and purchase permits for commercial activity (beach weddings, etc.) on unencumbered State lands, specifically on state public beaches.

(Honolulu) – Out of an abundance of caution and to facilitate social distancing recommendations, DLNR and its divisions are announcing the following closures to help reduce the potential spread of COVID-19. DLNR Chair Suzanne Case said, “We appreciate everyone’s patience and understanding during this time of major inconvenience. We intend to reopen parks and facilities as soon as the novel coronavirus is no longer a threat. These steps are being taken to protect all visitors and constituents, as well as our staff, while maintaining a high level of service.”

 (Honolulu) – People have expressed concerns about the future of the Wailua Reservoir, which is part of the East Kaua‘i Irrigation System.  Prior to Dec. 31, 2019, the reservoir was under the management of the East Kaua‘i Water Users Cooperative (EKWUC) operating under a DLNR revocable permit. The EKWUC voted against continuation of the RP on Sept. 3rd last year, which resulted in the year-end expiration of the permit.

(Honolulu)-The Department of Land and Natural Resources (DLNR) will be participating in the State of Hawaii Career Fair on Saturday, June 29, 2019, from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the Hawaii State Capitol, 4th Floor Lanai, at 415 S. Beretania Street.

(Kapalua) –The Dept. of Land and Natural Resources is in the process of developing a management plan for Honolua Bay and Lipoa Point on Maui’s west coast. The plan will help guide the preservation of environment, cultural, and recreational resources by balancing current and future uses of the area, along with practices to develop appropriate policies and actions.

(Hilo) – The DLNR Division of State Parks, in consultation with other DLNR divisions and the Hawai‘i County Civil Defense Agency is reopening MacKenzie State Recreation Area (SRA) in Lower Puna on Saturday, Sept. 8, 2018.  The park had been closed since shortly after the beginning of the East Rift Zone eruption in early May.

(Honolulu) – The central Public Land Trust Information System (PLTIS) available only to State and County agencies since January 2015 becomes accessible to anyone tomorrow, June 29, 2018.  The online site is found at https://pltis.hawaii.gov

HILO – Recent volcanic eruptions on the Big Island have forced the sole source of black cinder to vacate its harvesting plant, jeopardizing the island’s tropical floral business, a major economic industry in East Hawaiʻi. These businesses provide plants and flowers to flower and lei shops and stores for sale statewide and out-of-state exports.

KAHULUI -- The Department of Land and Natural Resources (DLNR) is proposing to establish a light industrial and commercial business park at Pulehunui on Maui.  The 280-acre DLNR Industrial and Business Park is located along Maui Veterans Highway (formerly known as Mokulele Highway) adjacent to the Hawai‘i National Guard Armory and the County Raceway Park in Central Maui, in the vicinity of the former Naval Air Station Pu‘unēnē and Maui Humane Society.
