The Hawaii Invasive Species Council has released its 2018 report to the legislature, Budgetary and other Issues Relating to Invasive Species. Reporting on actions in State Fiscal Year 2016, the report includes:
- advice to the Governor and legislature regarding invasive species
- a review of 2017 invasive species legislation and the position of HISC (or its administrative host, DLNR)
- a summary of projects funded by HISC in FY17-18,
- a summary agency resources & shortfalls relating to invasive species,
- a discussion of the economic costs associated with invasive species in Hawaii
- a description of HISC’s new public pest reporting tool, 643pest.org
- a description of HISC’s new interagency monitoring project for invasive species at airports, Mamalu Poepoe
