(HONOLULU) – The life of a conservation resource enforcement officer (CREO), with the DLNR Division of Conservation and Resources Enforcement (DOCARE), is largely an outdoors one. CREO’s have a broad range of duties, with a focus on the protection of the natural, historical, and cultural public trust resources of Hawai‘i.

(Honolulu) - Construction is set to begin on March 7th on a water system improvement project at the Ala Wai Small Boat Harbor. This project involves instillation of high-density polyethylene (HDPE) water mains and service laterals. They will also conduct trenching and asphalt pavement repair work.

(HILO ) – Two trucks, an utility task vehicle (UTV), and a tilt trailer stolen from a DLNR Division of Forestry and Wildlife (DOFAW) base yard last November, have all now been recovered. Today a joint task force from the DLNR Division of Conservation and Resources Enforcement (DOCARE) and the Hawai‘i Police Dept. (HPD) recovered the $18,000 UTV from a property in the Puna district.

(HONOLULU) – As Hawaiʻi Invasive Species Awareness Month (HISAM) drew to a close, a series of award winners were announced by the Hawaiʻi Invasive Species Council (HISC). The awards recognize community members and organizations that have made substantial contributions to protecting Hawaiʻi from the impacts of invasive species.

(HONOLULU) – In January, Governor David Ige proclaimed 2022 as the “Year of the Limu.” He recognized the significant role limu, in freshwater, saltwater, and other damp habitats play in Native Hawaiian traditions and Ahupua'a stewardship.

(Rocky Point, O‘ahu) – When a small north shore home collapsed onto the beach early this morning, it was not entirely unexpected – but still was very shocking to all to see. Homeowners in this neighborhood and elsewhere along the coastline inundated by powerful winter swells and beach erosion have been besieged for years by the specter of losing their houses and property to nature.

(HONOLULU) – Today, the State Board of Land and Natural Resources approved a request from the DLNR Division of Aquatic Resources (DAR) to hold a public hearing to incorporate fishery rules for the Miloliʻi Community-Based Subsistence Fishing Area (CBSFA) on Hawai‘i Island.

(HONOLULU) – Today the Board of Land and Natural Resources (BLNR) approved the re-opening of the remaining eight BFRAs, which were closed to fishing since 2007. The re-opening’s are effective immediately. 

(KAHULUI) – Sugar Cove is an idyllic location on the north shore of Maui, near Pā'ia. Hidden from view from the busy highway this pocket beach is home to a privately funded beach restoration effort that’s been ongoing for nearly three decades. 

(HONOLULU) – In a 73-page decision today, the Hawai‘i Supreme Court unanimously affirmed the First Circuit Court’s ruling upholding the State Board of Land and Natural Resources (Board) decision on a Habitat Conservation Plan (HCP) and Incidental Take License (ITL) for the Na Pua Makani wind power project on the north shore of O‘ahu.
