We are planning a day of activities for the whole family from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm, on Saturday, February 3, 2018, on the grounds of a cultural heritage preserve in Maunalua (6888 Hawaii Kai Drive, Honolulu 96825) and neighboring property, The Oahu Club. The event will start with a dedication ceremony honoring Ron Walker, a renowned wetland ecologist and advocate in Hawaii who’s career expanded decades. The day’s events will include tours of both Hawea Heiau Complex and Keawawa Wetland, planting of native species, bird watching of the endangered Hawaiian moorhen (‘alae‘ula), wetland-themed information tables, key speakers, plant sales, interactive wetland-themed games and crafts for keiki, music, hula and refreshments.
