FY26 Call for Proposals: Support for Research, Innovation, and Action
Posted on Jun 10, 2025 in NewsThe Hawaiʻi Invasive Species Council (HISC) is now accepting proposals for FY26 funding. We are seeking interagency projects that align with our priority areas and advance research, innovation, and collaborative solutions to invasive species challenges in Hawaiʻi.
HISC has identified several areas of research interest considered critically important to advancing invasive species management in Hawaiʻi. We are particularly interested in research that:
-
Develops or improves early detection and prevention tools for emerging invasive species.
-
Addresses key knowledge gaps in pest biology, ecology, or management, including species such as coqui frogs where information is limited or has not been updated in recent years.
-
Supports interagency collaboration by improving understanding of shared management pathways, such as pest movement through known vector pathways (i.e. ports, cargo shipments, plant and horticultural materials, interisland transport, or other high-risk introduction routes.)
-
Identifies scalable, cross-sector approaches that can inform broad application across islands, species, or agencies.

This is an intergovernmental funding opportunity. Eligible applicants include state and county agencies, the University of Hawaiʻi system, and federal or out-of-state public institutions working on issues relevant to Hawaiʻi. Private contractors are not eligible to apply directly but may be included as subcontractors within a proposal.
Deadline to apply is July 19, 2024 at 5:00 PM HST.
