(Honolulu) – At noon today most lands under the jurisdiction of the DLNR Division of Forestry and Wildlife (DOFAW) reopened to public use following the threat of Hurricane/Tropical Storm Lane.

(Honolulu) – Many state parks in Hawai‘i will reopen at various times on Saturday after staff have a chance to access any damage left in the wake of hurricane, now Tropical Storm Lane. 

 (Honolulu) – Late yesterday, four members of the DLNR Division of Forestry and Wildlife’s (DOFAW) Snail Extinction Prevention Program transferred 2,000 rare Hawaiian snails from a temporary structure at Kawainui Marsh to DLNR’s main administrative offices at the Kalanimoku Building in downtown Honolulu.

(Honolulu) – In advance of Tropical Cyclone Lane, The Hawai‘i Department of Land and Natural Resources (DLNR), Division of Forestry and Wildlife has cancelled the Lānaʻi mouflon hunt scheduled for August 25 -26, 2018. 

 (Honolulu) – The Hawai‘i Department of Land and Natural Resources (DLNR) and its divisions are closing various properties in advance of Hurricane Lane.  The regularly scheduled meeting of the Board of Land and Natural Resources (BLNR), set for Friday, August 24th has been postponed.

 (Honolulu) - The saga of a juvenile koholā (humpback whale) that began in January 1986 when it stranded on the shore of Kūheia on the island of Kanaloa Kahoʻoawe, came to a meaningful closing on August 15, 2018 (Kūpau Moon).

(HONOLULU) – More than 30 government and non-government organizations from across the state launched the 2018 Wildfire LOOKOUT! campaign this week to raise awareness about the threat of wildfire to Hawaii’s natural resources as well as private and public property. This comes on the heels of a series of wildfires across the state over the past few weeks.
