(Honolulu) –Brian Neilson has been appointed the next administrator of the DLNR Division of Aquatic Resources (DAR). Neilson has held a variety of staff and leadership positions with DAR. He has been Acting DAR Administrator since June of last year.
(Wailuku, Maui) – New evidence suggests that some marine predators are being displaced by high human use at the Molokini Marine Life Conservation District (MLCD), which in 2018 attracted more than 360,000 snorkelers and divers. At an information and scoping meeting scheduled for Thursday, March 21, 2019 staff from the DLNR, Division of Aquatic Resources (DAR), will present details of recent scientific studies and learn about management concerns for Molokini Crater.

(Honolulu) –The Department of Land and Natural Resources, Division of Forestry and Wildlife would like to thank all the wildlife artists who submitted art entries for the 2019-20 Hawai’i Wildlife Conservation and Game Bird Stamp Art Contest. A committee reviewed all submissions and two winners were chosen.
(Waiʻanae) – More than 75 Enterprise employees today joined the Arbor Day Foundation, the Department of Land and Natural Resources Kaululani Urban and Community Forestry Program, and the Waiʻanae Mountains Watershed Partnership (WMWP) to plant more than 750 trees at the Waiʻanae Kai State Forest Reserve in Waiʻanae. The event is part of a program – called the Enterprise Urban Tree Initiative – which invests in cities, through tree distribution and neighborhood planting events, which have been devastated by natural disasters.
(Wailuku)–The DLNR Division of State Parks is hosting an open workshop meeting on Thursday March 14, 2019 from 5:00pm to 7:00pm at the Velma McWayne Santos Community Center in Wailuku for attendees to discuss their insights, concerns and recommendations directly to project staff on improvements made to ʻIao Valley State Monument.

(Honolulu) –Construction project improvements begin this week at the Pu’u ‘Ualaka’a State Wayside Park for work on the City and County of Honolulu’s Radio Communication facility.
(Lihue, Kaua‘i) – During the four-day-long annual meeting of the Pacific Seabird Group this week, ten researchers detailed the results of programs aimed at reducing the deaths of endangered and threatened native Hawaiian seabirds. They also explained how introduced predators, like cats and rats, continue to decimate seabird populations around the globe.
