DLNR Hiring HISC Coordinator – Natural Resources Management Specialist V
The State of Hawaiʻi Department of Land and Natural Resources (DLNR), Division of Forestry and Wildlife (DOFAW), is recruiting for a Natural Resources Management Specialist V based in Downtown, Oʻahu.
This position is part of the State’s Natural Area Reserves Management Program, which works to preserve Hawaiʻi’s unique natural ecosystems and geologic formations. These areas include forests, wetlands, offshore islands, bogs, grasslands, marine coastal areas, lava flows, coastal dunes, and alpine terrain that support many highly specialized native plant and animal species.
Natural Resources Management Specialists are responsible for developing and implementing operational management plans for natural areas to prevent degradation, recover critically imperiled ecosystems, and support long-term conservation goals. Activities include conducting species inventories, protecting and restoring areas, implementing adaptive management, and leading educational or scientific projects.

Applicants must have a bachelor’s degree in a natural resources field (such as natural resources management, forestry, wildlife management, botany, zoology, or environmental studies) and at least three years of progressively responsible professional experience in natural resource management or related work.
