DOFAW Alert: Important Notice Ahead of Forecasted Severe Weather

Posted on Mar 10, 2026

DOFAW ALERT Important Message: Heavy rainfall, thunderstorms, lightning, and strong winds are anticipated for many areas in the state starting late Tuesday, 3/10/26.

DOFAW recommends avoiding outdoor areas that are exposed to environmental hazards, such as flooding, falling trees and limbs, rockfall, and landslides. Recreating outdoors (camping, hunting, hiking, mountain biking, etc.) during inclement weather puts response personnel at greater risk in an emergency and damages our natural resources by increasing soil erosion and polluting streams.

Help protect yourself, our emergency response personnel, and our natural resources by choosing other recreational options during this time.

Area closures may be implemented on an as-needed basis. Please check the announcements section of our website for updated info https://dlnr.hawaii.gov/dofaw/. More weather information is available at: https://www.weather.gov/hfo.
