DLNR and Edmund C. Olson Trust Establish A Public Access Route To The Ka’u Forest Reserve

HILO -- A public vehicular access route to the Ka’u Forest Reserve will soon be established along three miles of road along the lower boundary of this majestic forest reserve that spans over 61,000 acres on the south-eastern slopes of Mauna Loa, Hawaii. It will make more accessible areas of the reserve for public use which includes hunting, recreational opportunities, cultural uses, personal gathering and educational programs and activities.

LIHU‘E -- The Department of Land and Natural Resources announces the opening of a black-tailed deer hunting season on the island of Kaua‘i. Pursuant to Title 13, Chapter 123 (13-123-4) “Rules Regulating Game Mammal Hunting,” the following rules and conditions will be in effect:

HONOLULU -- The Department of Land and Natural Resources (DLNR) will close the popular Manoa Falls hiking trail during the morning on two days next week. On Monday July 20 and Tuesday July 21, the trail will be closed from sunrise until noon each day, while work to remove a hazardous tree takes place within the forest. The trail will reopen at noon each day.

Dues to the recent signing of new Chapter 123 Statewide Game mammal hunting seasons and rules by Governor David Y. Ige, the 2015 Kauai goat rifle and muzzleloader lottery hunting season was amended to start the new hunts in July.
