Access closed to public lands via Space Force gate in Keawaʻula, Oʻahu
Posted on Mar 18, 2026Due to security concerns, the US Space Force has temporarily closed access to the Satellite Tracking Station Road that departs Farrington Highway in Keawaʻula (Yokohama Bay) on west Oʻahu. This includes vehicular access to the Peacock Flats Campground, Kuaokalā Trail, Kuaokalā Game Management Area, and Kuaokalā Forest Reserve. Users can continue to access these lands from Keālia Trail or the Mokulēʻia Forest Reserve Access Road. This road is gated but allows walking or biking along the 3.6-mile road. Camping permits are still in effect, though refunds are available on request. Please contact your Oʻahu branch office of DLNR Forestry & Wildlife for questions.
