KULA FOREST RESERVE AND WAIPOLI ACCESS ROAD
TO BE CLOSED FOR REPAIRS MARCH 17 THROUGH APRIL 30
KAHULUI – The Department of Land and Natural Resources (DLNR) Division of Forestry and Wildlife will close the Kula Forest Reserve and Waipoli Access Road from Monday, March 17, 2014, through Wednesday, April 30, 2014, to allow needed road repairs to be made to both the unpaved and paved sections of the road.
Any forest or park permits for Polipoli Springs State Recreation Area for that period are being canceled. Activities in the forest reserve including hiking, biking, camping will be affected by these closures.
Due to recent heavy rains, the unpaved section of Waipoli Access Road requires repairs to fix washouts, holes, resurface and rebuild other portions of the road that have degraded due to normal wear and tear and exposure to the elements. These repairs are meant to be long term fixes.
Road repairs for the paved section of the road is funded entirely by capital improvement project funds. Waipoli Access Road will be closed from a point mauka of the lavender farm designated by posted signage.
