DLNR CLOSES ALL MAUI FOREST AREAS AS IGNACIO NEARS
Due to the continued approach of Hurricane Ignacio, DLNR Division of Forestry and Wildlife Maui district will close all Maui Forest Reserves, Game Management Areas, Wildlife Sanctuaries and Natural Area Reserves, for public safety due to threats of heavy rain and flash flooding, effective at 6 pm Sunday .
Areas closing on Maui include:
Forest Reserves: Kula, Makawao, Koolau, Kipahulu, Hana, Waihou Springs, Kahikinui, West Maui (all sections), Molokai;
Natural Area Reserves: Hanawi, Na Kula, West Maui (all sections), Kanaio, Ahihi Kinau, Olokui, Puu Alii;
All Maui County Wildlife Sanctuaries; Game Management Areas: Lanai GMA, and Kahakuloa GMA.
