GOAT HUNTING OPPORTUNITY IN THE NĀPALI COAST STATE WILDERNESS PARK

(Lihue) – The DLNR Division of Forestry and Wildlife (DOFAW) will open a special feral goat hunting opportunity in the Nāpali Coast State Wilderness Park. The area open to hunting will be called Nualolo Kai.

Applications are now available at DOFAW office at 3060 Eiwa St., Rm. 306, Lihue, HI 96766. Deadline to submit applications will be on February 28, 2019. An application fee of $5 per hunter will be charged. Hunters must apply with a group of 3 hunters and up to 3 assistants. A hunter list will be assigned by a lottery done on March 8, 2019. Not all applicants will be able to participate. The hunt will be held from April through August 2019. Selected hunters will need to show a valid 2018-19 hunting license and will be required to sign an agreement for individual voluntary services.

Participants must be able to swim at least 200 yards in ocean conditions and be able to hike on steep and loose terrain. Hunters will be permitted to use conventional rifles. All Title 13, Ch. 123 Rules Regulating Game Mammal Hunting shall apply to these control activities.
