World Wood Day

March 21, 2027

World Wood Day is observed every year on March 21 to celebrate the cultural, ecological, and economic significance of wood. It emphasizes the importance of sustainable wood use and promotes awareness of how wood contributes to a greener, healthier planet. The holiday was created by the International Wood Culture Society.

In Hawaiʻi, wood products can be used for timber and construction, building furniture or carving bowls, or for art. DLNR Forestry & Wildlife has Timber Management Areas designed for sustainable harvesting, and forestry collection permits can be used to obtain wood from public forest lands.
