Come join us for a volunteer workday, or come celebrate with us at an upcoming festival. The calendar below lists upcoming public events for Hawaiʻi Island’s Forestry & Wildlife education team. You can register for events on our iVolunteer system, or contact Ande Buskirk, our Hawaiʻi Island Education Specialist. We have many partners that also offer volunteer opportunities. Consider volunteering with the Big Island Invasive Species Committee, the Three Mountain Alliance, the Mauna Kea Watershed Alliance, the Mauna Kea Forest Restoration Partnership, or others.

Join our reforestation team as we process seeds at Gilbert Kahele Park. This is one of the many steps these seeds experience before they germinate, grow, and return to Maunakea. Seeds can range from māmane, koa, ʻiliahi, ʻaʻaliʻi, and pilo. Seed/fruit availability is based on what is available. Interested in learning more about our native plants and animals?? Join us as we offer our plant and bird workshop at Kaulana Manu Trail! Whether you're a rookie or a pro, our goal is to provide an opportunity to learn and connect with the native forests. Seed/fruit availability is based on what is available. Join us for a day at the Waimea State Tree Nursery! This is one of the many steps these seeds experience before they germinate, grow, and return to Maunakea. Tasks can include weeding/sizing, transplanting, and dibble preparation. Space for this event is limited so be sure to register asap.
