Your search found 61 hits- 08/28/16 – DLNR & YOU – Growing Native Plants For Species Recovery And To Protect Land And Watersheds(Honolulu) – When Silene perlmanii, an extremely rare small shrub with delicate white flowers, was discovered on O‘ahu by botanist Steve Perlman in 1987, just 20 individuals remained in the wild. Within three years, only 6 plants remained, dwindling to a single individual by 1994. The decline of this species at the last known wild site has been attributed to aggressive weeds and introduced ungulates damaging the habitat.

- 01/12/17 – New State Resources Enforcement Chief Announced; Robert Farrell to lead conservation enforcement across Hawai’i(Honolulu) – DLNR Chair Suzanne Case has announced that Robert Farrell begins work on Jan. 17, 2017 as the new Enforcement Chief for the DLNR Division of Conservation and Resources Enforcement (DOCARE). Case said, “We are fortunate to have a leader who has extensive conservation enforcement experience both within our own agency and with other organizations tasked with protecting natural and cultural resources. In addition, Bob’s close ties to Hawai’i, its people and as a respected DOCARE officer make him the perfect fit to lead the division.”

- 05/18/18 – Na Pua Makani Wind Project Given The Go Ahead By The State Land Board; North Shore Facility Planned with Eight Turbines(HONOLULU) - The Board of Land and Natural Resources (BLNR) has given the greenlight to Champlin/GEI Wind Holdings LLC’s Na Pua Makani Power Partners LLC’s plans to build a 25-megawatt wind farm near Kahuku on the north shore of Oahu.
- 06/14/18 – DLNR Provides Emergency Cinder Resource Vital For Tropical Floral Businesses On Hawaiʻi IslandHILO – Recent volcanic eruptions on the Big Island have forced the sole source of black cinder to vacate its harvesting plant, jeopardizing the island’s tropical floral business, a major economic industry in East Hawaiʻi. These businesses provide plants and flowers to flower and lei shops and stores for sale statewide and out-of-state exports.
- 02/26/20-SEA URCHIN’S HELPING TO CONTROL INVASIVE SEAWEED(Honolulu) – Building on the success of collector urchin out-plantings in Kāne‘ohe Bay, the DLNR Division of Aquatic Resources (DAR) is now out-planting hatchery-raised native sea urchins in the Waikīkī Marine Life Conservation District (MLCD). This week the DAR Aquatic Invasive Species (AIS) team introduced the first of 100,000 native sea urchins (Tripneustes gratilla), to help control over 4 acres of invasive algae.
