- 09/20/13 – Feral Goat, Sheep Control Permits Announced For The Pu‘u Wa‘awa‘a Forest Reserve- Makai And Mauka SectionsFor permit assignments, call the DLNR Division of Forestry and Wildlife in Kamuela at (808) 887-6063. Permits will be assigned from 8 a.m. until slots are filled on Sept. 25 for only one day of the FIRST weekend of the program for either PWW Makai or PWW Mauka. A valid hunting license is required to apply for a permit. A maximum of five permittees will be allowed per call and only one slot per hunter is allowed. Participation for the remainder portion of the program will be on a first-come, first-served basis at the hunter check station on the day of program.

- Permits Now Available For Animal Control In Napali Coast State Park On Kaua‘iLIHU‘E – The Department of Land and Natural Resources (DLNR) has announced the opening of a feral goat and feral pig control hunt opportunity in the Napali Coast State Wilderness Park, Hunting Unit G. The areas open to animal control will be between the Ho‘olulu valley (4 miles) and Kalalau valley (11 miles) portions of Hunting Unit G, including Hono o Napali Natural Area Reserve. - 2014-2015 GAME BIRD HUNTING SEASONThe State of Hawaii, Department of Land and Natural Resources announces the opening of the 2014-2015 Game Bird Hunting Season on Saturday, November 1, 2014. The fall game bird hunting season will run through Monday, January 19, 2015, with legal hunting days on Saturday, Sunday, and State Holidays. Department biologists are predicting an average season of bird hunting, with the easing of drought conditions in many parts of the state. A December 31, 2007 appellate court ruling determined that no game bird stamp sales are allowed for hunting. A valid hunting license only is required for all game bird hunting on public and private lands. All game bird hunting is regulated by Hawaii Administrative Rules Title 13, Chapter 122 (see https://hawaii.gov/dlnr/dofaw “Administrative Rules”).
