Your search found 1446 hits- 04/15/14 – DLNR Launches Online Permitting For Commercial Vessels Landing At Mokulua and Popoia Offshore Island Wildlife SanctuariesHONOLULU -- The Department of Land and Natural Resources (DLNR) Division of Forestry and Wildlife (DOFAW) has launched an online permitting site for vendors to register and purchase commercial vessel landing (such as kayak tours) permits to DLNR’s offshore island wildlife sanctuaries. Permits are required by law to land any business-oriented vessel at the regulated sanctuaries. This online service will initially allow purchase of landing permits at two Windward Oahu offshore island sanctuaries, the islets of Mokulua and Popoia.

- 02/02/23 – RESEARCHERS ARE SURPRISED AND SAD TO FIND MARINE DEBRIS IN 60-TON SPERM WHALE’S STOMACH(HONOLULU) – Marine debris, ingested by a 56-foot-long sperm whale, is believed to be at least a contributing cause to its death. The whale washed up on the reef fronting Lydgate Park on Kaua‘i Friday night. On Saturday, heavy equipment was used to get it onto the beach where researchers from the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa Health and Stranding Lab, spent 15-hours trying to find clues about its death. Their initial examination of the whale was limited because of its immense size.

- 02/14/14 – DLNR Accelerating Forest Protection To Secure Hawaii’s Water SupplyHONOLULU – More than 140,000 acres of forest lands in Hawaii are now being managed to conserve Hawaii’s forests thanks to funding provided by Governor Abercrombie’s “The Rain Follows the Forest” Watershed Initiative. That number will increase to more than 480,000 acres by the time projects currently funded are completed. The administration’s goal, announced in 2011, is to double the acreage of protected watershed forests in a decade.
