Your search found 1480 hits- 05/06/14 – DLNR Leads Kaua‘i Coral Disease Management TeamLIHU‘E, Kaua‘i –The Department of Land and Natural Resources (DLNR) Division of Aquatic Resources (DAR) this month called together a number of partners including the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), U.S. Geological Survey (USGS), and University of Hawai‘i to address the ongoing Kaua‘i black band coral disease outbreak. This will be the third meeting of the Kaua‘i Management Response Team. The Response Team will review the latest data about the disease, identify research next steps, and consider available management options.

The workshop will take place Sept. 27, 2014, from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at Holy Nativity School in ‘Aina Haina.
- 12/12/14 – “Birds, Not Rats!” Campaign Seeks Public’s Help To Protect Kaua’i Forest Birds Through Rat ControlHANAPEPE, KAUA‘I – The Kaua‘i Forest Bird Recovery Project (KFBRP), a collaborative project of the Department of Land and Natural Resources’, Division of Forestry and Wildlife (DOFAW), the University of Hawaii Pacific Cooperative Studies Unit, and Garden Island Research and Development, Inc. (GIRCD), has announced the launch of a crowdfunding and outreach campaign to generate support for protecting the native birds of Kaua‘i by controlling rats with humane, self-resetting rat traps.
- 12/17/20-2020-2021 GAME BIRD HUNTING SEASON ANNOUNCED FOR THE KAHUA/PONOHOLO RANCH COOPERATIVE GAME MANAGEMENT AREA(Hilo) – The opening of the 2020-2021 Game Bird Hunting Season at the Kahua/Ponoholo Ranch Cooperative Game Management Area will begin on Saturday, December 19, 2020. This game bird hunting season will run through Sunday, January 17, 2021, with legal hunting days on Saturdays and Sundays, only. The hunting area will be open from 6:30 am to 5:00 pm. All hunters must be checked out of the area by 5:00 pm as the gates will be locked at that time. During this season, the areas that are open for hunting may change on a weekly basis as cattle operations are actively taking place.

- 12/24/20-EISPN SCOPING MEETING FOR THE WAIKῙKῙ BEACH IMPROVEMENT AND MAINTENANCE PROGRAM(Honolulu) - The beaches of Waikīkī are chronically eroding, and the backshore is frequently flooded, particularly during high tides and high surf events. Without beach improvements and maintenance, sea level rise is likely to result in total beach loss in Waikīkī long before the end of the century. The DLNR Office of Conservation and Coastal Lands (OCCL) will be holding a virtual scoping meeting next month regarding the Environmental Impact Statement Preparation Notice (EISPN) for the Waikīkī Beach Improvement and Maintenance Program.
- 12/21/21-STATE AND FEDERAL AUTHORITIES SEEK INFORMATION ON MONK SEAL SHOT AND KILLED ON MOLOKA‘I(HONOLULU) – A monk seal, known as L11, died of an intentional gunshot wound to the head on Moloka‘i on Sept. 19th. A postmortem analysis determined that the young female suffered severe, lethal trauma from a bullet fragment. Further testing by NOAA to determine whether the seal had any diseases is underway but is not expected to change the conclusion of the postmortem examination.
