- 02/11/19-ASSESSMENT & CLEAN-UP UNDERWAY IN STATE PARKS & SMALL BOAT HARBORS (Honolulu) – Maintenance workers with the Dept. of Land and Natural Resources begin the process today of cleaning up from the weekend’s powerful winter storm. Heavy surf and high winds broke nine vessels away from their off-shore moorings on Maui and Molokai. At the Lahaina Small Boat Harbor on Maui six boats ended up on rocks on the shoreline. Two boats came ashore in Kihei one on Molokai.
- 12/06/18-EYESORE REMOVED FROM MAUNALUA BAY SHORELINE(Honolulu) – A large panel van, full of hundreds of pounds of construction debris was towed from alongside the coastline at east O‘ahu’s Maunalua Bay this afternoon. The truck sporting graffiti, broken windows, and flat tires was apparently towed to the bay’s parking lot several months ago and abandoned.

LEHUA ISLAND IS RAT FREE(LĪHUʻE) – Just in time for Earth Day 2021, Lehua Island, the tiny, but mighty island off Kaua‘i’s west shore has been declared free of damaging, introduced (invasive) rats. After many dec-ades, the island is free of invasive vertebrates, enabling Hawaii’s seabirds to safely nest on the steep rocky shores, and native plants to flourish once again.

- 12/22/20-SPECIAL ARCHERY & MUZZLELOAD FERAL GOAT HUNTING PERMITS AVAILABLE ON KAUA‘I(Līhu‘e ) — The DLNR Division of Forestry and Wildlife (DOFAW) announces the availability of applications for special feral goat hunt in Hunting Unit A, Kekaha Game Management Area (GMA) on the island of Kaua‘i. Permits will be limited determined by a lottery. Depending on the number of applicants, not all hunters may be drawn for the hunt. There will be no stand-by list. Applications are available at various vendors and all hunter check stations on Kaua’i. Deadline to submit applications will be Friday, January 15, 2021. Lottery to assign dates will be on Wednesday, January 20, 2021.
