State Forestry Nurseries: Information & Ordering

The Forestry Program at DLNR Forestry and Wildlife manages 12 state nurseries across Hawaiʻi that produce high-quality trees and plants. These nurseries offer a reliable source of native and non-invasive tree seedlings for restorating degraded lands, replanting after wildfires, improving watershed health, and supporting healthy forests. Our state nurseries grow species that are not always available commercially, support our climate and wildfire resilience, and help build a greener economy through supporting local forestry jobs.
We use these plants in our reforestation efforts, and also make seedlings available for purchase to members of the public and to businesses. These plants can be used as windbreaks, for shade, or for other uses.
We provide information about plants in Hawaiʻi that may be useful to you as a grower. You can visit our Plants in Hawaiʻi page for general information on select native and canoe species, or click the “+” button below to see links to information about specific plants that may be available for purchase. Note that species availability varies by island.
Ordering plants
Trees and plants may be available from nurseries on your island. Available species and prices vary by island. When you contact our nurseries (via the form below or by phone), we will confirm species availability; orders are filled only when availability and staff capacity allow. For all orders, note that orders must be paid for and picked up on the specific dates and times arranged; otherwise orders may be canceled and payments forfeited. Plants are sold in dibble tubes unless otherwise noted in the order form. If you have specialized needs (e.g., larger plant/pot sizes or endangered species not listed below), please contact us. Please also note that prices may be doubled when purchased for commercial resale.
For orders on Maui and Hawaiʻi Island, you can use the online ordering form below. For other islands, contact your local branch office.
