- 10/07/13 – State Boating Division Holds Public Hearings On Administrative Rules For Commercial Operations“There has been a significant increase in the volume and types of recreational and commercial activities taking place in state waters since these boating rules were written and last revised nearly 20 years ago,” said William J. Aila, Jr., DLNR chairperson. “It’s time to update our rules so they are fair and equally applied to commercial operators operating everywhere in state waters. Since the use of our waters is changing, these rules allow us greater flexibility to adapt to those changes,” Aila said.
- 06/06/19-“DAWNING OF A NEW DAY FOR HĀʻENA” BLESSING PREPARES COMMUNITY FOR REOPENING OF STATE PARKS AND KŪHIŌ HIGHWAY(Hāʻena, Kaua‘i) – The clouds broke, and the rain stopped as 200 Hāʻena and Wainiha residents gathered next to a lo‘i in Hāʻena State Park on Kaua‘i’s north shore on Wednesday for a blessing called “Dawning of a New Day for Hāʻena.” The blessing, which included remarks from Governor David Ige, DLNR Chair Suzanne Case, local community members and a host of lawmakers and state leaders precedes the reopening of Kūhiō Highway and Hāʻena State Park, the gateway to the famed Kalalau Trail in the Nāpali Coast State Wilderness Park.
