- 02/09/18 – Interactive Online GIS Maps Latest Maptool for Resource ManagementHONOLULU -- As software advances continue to provide new applications for interactive online maps, natural resource managers are better able to use up-to-date information that is critical in advancing management capabilities. Two Department of Land and Natural Resources (DLNR) divisions are now utilizing an interactive geographic information system (GIS) called MapTool which outlines boundaries of resource management areas, and provides site-specific information, including applicable regulations and a link to the relevant Hawai‘i Revised Statutes.

- 04/25/22-DIAMOND HEAD STATE MONUMENT BECOMES THIRD STATE PARK TO REQUIRE RESERVATIONS FOR OUT-OF-STATE VISITORS(HONOLULU) – Listed as a National Natural Landmark, the iconic Lē‘ahi - Diamond Head State Monument (DHSM), is the third park unit in the Hawai‘i State Park system to require advanced reservations for out-of-state visitors, beginning on May 12, 2022. Hawai‘i residents continue to enjoy free access without reservations, but entry may depend on parking availability.

- 09/12/22 – MĀKOLELAU ACQUISITION PROVIDES ADDITIONAL WATERSHED PROTECTION ON MOLOKA‘I(HONOLULU) - In an effort to protect native forests, watersheds, and reefs in southeast Moloka‘i, the DLNR Division of Forestry and Wildlife (DOFAW), in partnership with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (USFWS) and The Nature Conservancy (TNC), purchased five parcels of land in the ahupua‘a of Mākolelau last week, dedicating the land for conservation and restoration.
